Sabor Caribbean

Catering a different type of flavor for your party

Perhaps burrowed somewhere in your DVR of wedding programming is an episode of "Rich Bride Poor Bride" where an overzealous groom named Owen upstages his bride Christine to throw the most Miami-tastic wedding possible.

There was plenty to leave you scratching your head - his adamant declaration for a candy station, an across-a-pool platform/aisle to walk in on and even no facial on any of his groomsmen. Perhaps less head-scratching and more intriguing, though, was the inclusion of a cigar roller for the reception.

Cigar catering, as it's often called, is a visual experience for the guest and a more active take on favors. Professional rollers create the cigars by hand in front of guests, who can step outside to enjoy them, if they choose. Cigar company CF Dominicana, which operates catering services in more than a dozen areas across the U.S., even designs custom cigar bands for each event, too, as a personal touch.

If you're considering cigar catering, expect to spend a few hundred dollars for the service, plus around $5 to $10 per cigar.
